Move to The Big Island of Hawaii
Aloha friends Stephen Proski with Compass Hawaii and Real Estate Kailua Kona hope you are having an awesome day,
Today I am going to talk about the 9 reasons why people move to the Big Island of Hawaii and hopefully these will be some of your same reasons you will want to move here as well.
#1 Weather. Yes we have about 300 days a year of blue skies and sunshine here on the westside of the island. With our year-round warm temperatures between 75 and 85 degrees Hawaii. This is the perfect place to live. It was our number choice to relocate to when we decided to take the leap of faith and move across the pond.
Outdoor Activities, there is NO reason to stay indoors when living here, so getting out and enjoying all the island has to offer is our #2 reason to move here. Things like hiking, zipline, beaches, biking, tennis, fishing, pickleball, swimming, diving, snorkeling, golf, water-falls the list has endless possibilities just waiting for you to experience
Our #3 reason to move here is Fresh fruit and produce. Just about everywhere you go around the island you will find farmers markets selling some of the most delicious fruit you will find, like mango, papaya, lychee, dragon fruit, coconut, star fruit and the best avocados I have ever eaten. You even find people with small stands in front of their homes selling or even giving their fruit away.
#4 Kona Coffee. As a coffee drinker, I fell in love with the robust and delicious local Kona coffee that is available here on the island. With the perfect climate, soil and elevation Kona coffee is grown here and is famous around the world. you can visit the local farms, take a tour and even sample their various coffee blends and at most places its absolutely free. Every year we have the annual Kona coffee festival held here in Holualoa and we attend regularly to remind us how grateful we are to live is such an awesome location.
#5 the People. The aloha spirit here on the Big Island is strong and what that means is the people of Hawaii are always willing to offer friendship and assistance when needed. According to the National Well Being survey, Hawaii is the least stressed state in the US. Everyone here has a little more patience and empathic.
You will definitely see this when driving around the island. People are always stopping to let you merge into traffic and even stop to let someone from the opposite direction make a left hand turn. The people here are so laid back you cant help but enjoy the welcoming spirit by the local Hawaiians.
The #6 reason why people want to make Hawaii their home is the natural beauty. We have some of the most spectacular and diverse sceneries that can be enjoyed. We have an active volcano, waterfalls all over the Hilo side of the island, we have rainforest, desert like arid locations to the north, snow top mountainous areas at Mauna Kea, and our white sand, black sand and green sand beaches. They don’t call Hawaii paradise for nothing. We have some many places to explore and enjoy from the mountains to the sea, from the Malka to Makai. Hawaii is paradise
#7 our Amazing wild life is another reason why people and myself love living here on the Big Island. We get to see the friendly sea turtles that you can find while you are swimming or snorkeling. They always will come close to you to say hello, then there is the of humpback whales we get to enjoy and watch from February thru March. All you have to do is park along the coast line and you can watch them breach the surface from just about any vantage point. You can always hop on a whale watching charter and enjoy the many pods of dolphins we have. If you are a snorkeler than you will have plenty opportunities to swim with the fishes and appreciate your oneness with natural
#8 I think this is something that I didn’t realize I was going to enjoy until I moved here. A slower pace of life. Yes, we have no freeways, we live on island time and if you don’t know what that is like, you will find out when you arrive. No one, I mean no one is in a hurry. You can definitely tell the locals from the tourist on the road. Locals are driving the speed limit and the tourist are speeding along passing everyone they can.
The island just about shuts down at 9pm. Yes there are some bars still open, but most people here live a very quiet and relaxed life that is stress free. Everyone has a more relaxed approach to punctuality compared to the hustle and bustle of the entire country.
And I saved the best for last and at is the #9 reason why people move to the big island is a Healthy Lifestyle. Yes, I hear that quite a lot from my clients moving here. Like mentioned previously with our slower pace of life cornucopia of outdoor things to do, abundance of fresh fruits and vegetable, no wonder why people who live in Hawaii have one of the highest life expectancies throughout the united states.
Most People moving here change their entire lifestyle, by exercising more, eat healthy, slow down and smell the roses so to speak
